Defining strengths, harnessing power
Once again this year, Facing Cancer Together held its summer camp at Eden Wood in Eden Prairie. The theme was uncovering “The Power of You.” At camp, we recognized that everyone has both strengths and limitations. In the book The Tao of Pooh, Winnie the Pooh says it best, “Once you face and understand your limitations, you can work with them instead of having them work against you and get in your way, which is what they do when you ignore them, whether you realize it or not. And then you will find that, in many cases, your limitations can become your strengths.”
Nearly 100 kids focused on how to identify the way cancer challenges them and how they can channel their strengths to grow from the experience. During the three days, campers designed fabulous masks, climbed the high ropes course, discovered new friends, defined their strengths, and harnessed their power. Check out the music video from the kids made this summer here. It powerfully captures the camp experience!
