Facing Cancer Together
Facing Cancer Together (FaCT) is an educational support program offered free of charge for children and families who have a parent with cancer. FaCT helps families gain understanding, strength and hope as they face the challenges of cancer together.
Our mission in the Facing Cancer Together program is to strengthen the family as they face the challenges of cancer together through education and support.
Cancer is a family disease. When a parent is diagnosed with cancer, the whole family is impacted. Research suggests that children who have a parent with cancer may experience increased levels of anxiety and depression as well as an increased sense of social isolation. At Facing Cancer Together we work with families as they navigate their cancer experience by providing the information necessary to talk openly as a family about cancer. Through our program, families learn to identify and use their strengths to face this disease. In addition, both adults and children alike learn that they are not alone in this experience as they begin to develop a community of support.
With the right information and support, we deeply believe that families can meet and manage this challenge and discover unbelievable strengths as a result.
