Welcome to Buster's Fan Club

The newest member of our Facing Cancer Together team is our canine friend “Buster,” a three-year-old Boxer.  He is fun and loveable and really enjoys coming to Kids Kamp and other FaCT events.  Buster is certified through Therapy Dogs International, Inc. --a volunteer organization dedicated to regulating, testing and registration of therapy dogs and their volunteer handlers for the purpose of visiting nursing homes, hospitals, other institutions and wherever else therapy dogs are needed.

Sometimes when a parent has cancer and is going through treatment, he or she may be too ill, too fatigued, or too sensitive to the touch to hold a child or to play and interact as much as a parent and child would like.  This may make a child feel sad or rejected, and can make a parent feel sad as well. The cancer journey creates a lot of worry for everyone in the family.  Buster is a great listener and we know Buster can sense these difficult feelings. He is very receptive to running, playing, shaking hands, rolling around, and receiving lots and lots of hugs.  He has brought immense joy to the children, and through his patience and charisma has a way of reassuring the children that their parents love, like his, is unconditional.

We are grateful to our FaCT volunteer Dori Weisbrod and her husband Mike for sharing Buster with us.  We are developing a card series for Buster to send to Fact participants on special occasions or simply for encouragement.  You can email Buster at buster@mnangel.org or send notes to:
