2010 Angel Awards

On February 20, 2010 Angel Foundation held its eighth annual Angel Awards: Beyond the Stars...there are Angels. Hundreds of supporters gathered to recognize those who have made outstanding contributions to the health and wellness of cancer survivors and their families.

2010 Honorees

Lindy Yokanovich, Advocacy Award

Lindy Yokanovich, Esq. is the founder and executive director of Cancer Legal Line, a non-profit organization providing free assistance with cancer related legal issues to all Minnesotans affected by cancer.

Doretta Stark, Caregiver Award

Doretta Stark is a retired Oncology Social Worker, spending 30 years at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in the Social Work department. She also served on multiple committees and boards with the American Cancer Society and other non-profits serving the cancer community.

Caribou Coffee, Corporate Caring Award

Caribou Coffee developed Amy's Blend coffee to honor Amy Erickson, a beloved Caribou Coffee roastmaster who lost her battle with breast cancer in 1995 at age 33. Caribou is also a major supporter of Grounds for Health, a non-profit organization working to create sustainable, effective cervical cancer awareness and screening programs throughout the world.

Brenda McCants, Spirit Award

Brenda McCants is a breast cancer survivor since 2005 who also lost her mother to the disease in 1987. With her three children, Rashad, an NBA player with the Sacramento Kings, Rashanda, a member of the WNBA Minnesota Lynx, and Sade, her youngest daughter, formed Shoot for the Cure, a foundation dedicated to bringing awareness to the disease. She is also a member of Sister's Network, working directly with cancer patients to deliver meals, sit with patients during treatment, and offer spiritual support.
