Meet our Staff

Vicki Stute
President

As President, Vicki is responsible for organizational leadership, strategic planning, operations and financial oversight, community relations, talent management, resource development and stewardship, program development, board governance and volunteer management.  She brings nearly 20 years of executive leadership experience to Angel Foundation, including positions in four chambers of commerce and various nonprofit organizations.  Vicki has a passion for quality service focused on mission-based results and is recognized for building effective relationships with stakeholders. She also brings a very special cancer connection to Angel Foundation, as she lost her mother to cancer and has witnessed the effects of the illness on many of her friends and family members.  Vicki understands the needs of those living with cancer and is eager to positively impact those we serve.

Brooke Trierweiler
Events Coordinator
As Events Coordinator, Brooke is responsible for general management and oversight of all Angel Foundation fundraising events including volunteer management, event development, and planning and implementation. A recent graduate of the University of Minnesota, Brooke holds a B.S. in Management and Marketing. A Marshfield, Wisconsin native, Brooke has first-hand experience with cancer, having lost a family member to the disease and witnessed the survivorship of another. Through these experiences, Brooke has learned that the generosity and kindness of strangers can be integral in keeping families together as they face cancer's challenges.

Deborah Berglund
Finance Manager
As Finance Manager, Deb is responsible for providing relevant financial data to the Board of Directors and Organizational Management team necessary for budgetary and financial decisions. She ensures efficient and timely performance of the Angel Foundation's accounting functions. Deb graduated with a degree in Finance and has over 19 years of corporate and non-profit accounting experience. Prior to coming to Angel Foundation, Deb worked for the Minnesota Valley Humane Society and Thomson Reuters. Deb’ s father was diagnosed with lung cancer at the beginning of August 2003. A few days later he had difficulty breathing so he was taken to the hospital where they also determined it had spread.  He passed away three weeks later, having never left the hospital.

Deborah Erickson
Marketing & Communications Coordinator

Marketing & Communications Coordinator Deborah leads the marketing and communications function for Angel Foundation including branding, media relations, website, social media, collateral, and e-communications development, advertising. Deborah has 25+ years of marketing communications experience in non-profit and for profit organizations. Most recently, she has served as marketing director for Children's Home Society and Family Services and marketing communications director for Augsburg Fortress Publishers.

Gaye Huber
Administrative Assistant
Gaye is  responsible for maintaining and updating all databases; coordinates meetings and other activities of the organization; assists program and admin staff on projects as needed; general office duties such as correspondence, faxing, copying and filing.

Janice Haines
Co-Director of Facing Cancer Together Program

Janice Haines is Co-Director of the Facing Cancer Together program. She is a licensed elementary education teacher and taught in the Minneapolis Public School District for over 10 years. Her personal experience with cancer is two-fold: Janice was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma almost 13 years ago and when Janice was a teenager her father passed away from a diagnosis of cancer. Janice brings not only a professional background, but life experiences and personal passion to help children who have a parent with cancer. Currently, in her position at Angel Foundation, Janice co-leads Facing Cancer Together, education and support programs for families that have a parent with cancer, and speaks around the state about the challenges a cancer diagnosis brings to the family.

 Jennifer Kielas
Financial Assistance Program Coordinator

Jennifer is responsible for all aspects of the financial assistance program process—assisting patients and health care professionals with policies and procedures as well as processing all financial assistance applications.  She has a B.S. from Michigan State University and has more than 10 years of financial experience.  In addition, Jennifer brings extensive experience in working with people in crisis through nearly four years of service as a police officer. Jennifer is an avid volunteer and enjoys giving back to the community.  Having lost her own mother to cancer, Jennifer is sensitive to the needs of those she serves.

Michael Brink
Grant Writer

As a grant writer, Michael is responsible for writing and assembling corporate and foundation grant proposals.  He also researches new funding opportunities and sustains relationships with current funders.  A Wisconsin native, Michael is a proud University of Wisconsin alumnus and recently graduated with a Masters in Nonprofit Management from the Hamline University School of Business. 

 Missy Lundquist
Co-director of Facing Cancer Together
Missy is co-director of the Facing Cancer Together program, responsible for its development, coordination and implementation. She earned her MSW from Fordham University in New York City. She is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Minnesota School of Social Work. Her research is focused on how an advanced cancer diagnosis in a parent with dependent children impacts the family’s functioning. She is one of eight recipients nationally to be honored with the American Cancer Society Doctoral Training Grant in 2010. Missy has been an oncology social worker for more than ten years working primarily with families facing a parental cancer diagnosis while raising dependent children Bringing her in-depth knowledge of the psychosocial needs of families living with cancer, child development, and family systems, she helps to ensure that the program is grounded in theory, practice, and informed by the latest empirical research.

Sarah Tower
Community Relations Officer
As Community Relations Officer, Sarah works with individuals, organizations and businesses to raise visibility and awareness of Angel Foundation's mission.  Additionally, she also oversees both internal and community fundraising events and has expertise in cancer related topics such as survivorship, coping, psychosocial care and end of life issues.  Sarah brings over 10 years of experience working in the nonprofit and medical fields, focusing on cancer wellness, program development and community outreach.  Sarah received her Bachelor's degree from University of Minnesota Duluth and a Master's Degree from Wheelock College in Boston as well as certification as a Child Life Specialist.  Prior to joining the staff at Angel Foundation, Sarah worked at Cleveland Clinic and Stewart's Caring Place Cancer Wellness Center in North East Ohio, and Komfo-Anokye Hospital in Ghana, West Africa.  A native to Minnesota and someone who personally understands the affect a cancer diagnosis has on a family, Sarah is glad to be able to give back to her local community by supporting those who have been touched by cancer.
